Rahway’s Own Nomination

Rahway has a rich history of creativity and innovation. The Rahway’s Own Series is managed by a specially designated committee made up of community members and past honorees. Taking nominations from the community, we review those individuals nominated who have achieved excellence in their field, who have impacted and elevated Rahway and who will represent our town as a place for innovation, creativity and community.

Examples of past honorees, just to name a few, are:
• Nikola Tesla, set up the first AC electric lights at the Rahway Train Station Plaza
• Shanice Williams, cast as Dorthy in the NBC’s The Wiz Live less than a year after graduating from Rahway High School’s theater program
• Jim Kennedy, Assemblyman and former Mayor of Rahway
• Milton Freedman, Nobel Prize winning Economist

We have also honored the continuing stories of:
• Daphne Lee, an accomplished dancer who in August of 2017 was also crowned Miss Black USA
• Darrion Caldwell, class of 2016 Mixed Martial Arts fighter who in Oct of 2017 became the Bellatore bantamweight Champion

Rahway has a rich legacy of accomplishment and innovation but also continues to achieve. We use these examples to inspire the next generation of Rahway’s Own.

Do you know a great story? Is there someone who deserves to be highlighted for their accomplishments in their field or their contributions to making Rahway a better place? Tell us about it!

NOMINATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 15th, 2019!
